Papillon (2024)

​Butterflies symbolize change and transition. While we naturally evolve as we live our lives, it seems, for AnnMarie, those changes happened very quickly over the last 18 years. AnnMarie went from one toxic environment to another, then moving to another country where adapting and transitioning had to take place rapidly left her frozen, having difficulties settling in one place psychologically, emotionally. As she battle voices in her head and wanting to both ground herself and fly away simultaneously, these butterflies are still not settled.
